For over 30 years, I’ve operated on a simple premise: in IT and cybersecurity, failure isn’t an option when critical data — and human lives — are on the line.
My career began in 1992 in Apple’s R&D department and has spanned pivotal infrastructure and security roles at Intel, Kaiser Permanente, and the California Superior Courts. Most recently, I spent 20 years building and leading the IT and security infrastructure at Optima Healthcare Insurance Services (CHI Insurance), serving as Vice President of IT and CISO.
During those two decades directing IT operations and safeguarding millions of HIPAA, PHI, and PII records, we maintained a flawless record: zero breaches. Beyond internal operations, I’ve been called upon to consult on large-scale ransomware attacks for healthcare systems across the Pacific Northwest — frequently collaborating with top industry experts.
A New Chapter
In 2024, a few years before stepping down from my executive role at Optima in early 2026, I founded Critical Systems. After decades of leading IT and security operations at the executive level while remaining deeply hands-on, Critical Systems allows me to continue that same high-stakes technical work with even greater focus and direct involvement for the clients who need it most.
